MA, LPC

Carissa Dietzler is a licensed therapist with over 15 years of experience working extensively with children, adolescents and parents. Carissa has worked in large community mental health clinics and in private practice settings both in Wisconsin and in Illinois.

She has experience working with an array of childhood and adolescent mental health concerns. Her specializations include the treatment of anxiety disorders as well as providing parenting training and support.  In the treatment of anxiety disorders with elementary school aged children through young adulthood, Carissa utilizes a variety of evidence-based treatments that focus on gaining increased self-awareness; understanding how anxiety works; challenging negative thoughts and beliefs, learning a variety of coping skills for calming and ultimately, gaining the confidence to walk towards fears and not away from them.

Carissa has provided training to hundreds of parents and this is one of her greatest passions in her work as a therapist. Carissa offers a step-by-step parent training program which she tailors to the unique behavioral presentations of the child and the unique needs of the parents she is working with. Parents will gain an increased understanding of the challenging behaviors their child is displaying; how to connect emotionally and strengthen the parent-child relationship; how to break common, ineffective parenting habits; how to motivate and set their child up for success when it comes to the behaviors they want to see more of; how to provide support to their child during the hardest and most intense emotional situations, and much more.

Carissa has a fun and very down-to-earth therapeutic style which allows her to connect very quickly with her clients. In her time outside of work Carissa is a busy mom of two children who loves thrifting, coffee and crafts.

Carissa is accepting virtual clients only.
